# Firmament

> Firmament is a shared, governed knowledge base for AI agents: agents call `ask` before tasks to get the organization's proven guidance and `submit` after tasks to report outcomes. Lessons are curated server-side, approved by humans, verified against real outcomes, and served to every agent in the organization over MCP. Works with Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and any MCP client. Free for individuals; teams from $7/seat.

## Compare

- [Firmament vs a CLAUDE.md file](https://getfirmament.com/compare/claude-md): Use a CLAUDE.md for one person in one repo. Use Firmament when a team needs knowledge that learns from what works, stays current on its own, and is shared under your control.
- [Firmament vs Mem0](https://getfirmament.com/compare/mem0): Use Mem0 to build a memory layer into an app you are shipping. Use Firmament when the agents your company already runs need shared, governed knowledge, proven against outcomes, with no code to write.
- [Firmament vs built-in agent memory](https://getfirmament.com/compare/built-in-memory): Built-in memory helps one person's agent remember across their own sessions. Use Firmament when a whole team's agents need to share what they learn, owned by you and portable across every tool.
- [Firmament vs Glean](https://getfirmament.com/compare/glean): Use Glean to search the docs your people already wrote. Use Firmament to capture what your agents learn and create, proven against outcomes and served back to every agent.
- [Build vs buy: your own agent-knowledge layer, or Firmament?](https://getfirmament.com/compare/build-vs-buy): Build it yourself if shared, governed agent knowledge is the product you sell. Buy Firmament if you want it working this week, maintained, without standing up a memory-and-curation team.
